At the beginning of the month we posted Pawel Podwojewski’s renders here, with talk of the ‘making of’ to follow soon. And here it is on his site!
Pawel goes through terrain, lighting, settings, etc and then finishes off with the post production.
Have a look at Mohamed AbuYhia’s tutorial on CGSociety.org for his render ‘Breeze of the Past’. As featured in Expose 8.
Mohamed, an artist from Egypt, shares his reference ideas, textures, etc.

Vyonyx’s Croatian project really impressive! The detail amazing. Have a look at their project insight here on Cornucopia3d.com. This project is also featured in one of the most recent 3D World issues.
The final render was eventually rendered at 12000 x 8160 pixels, which you can imagine, took quite sometime!
I’m sure you’ll recognise the scene? From what I recall there was a still render floating around a while ago produced by Studio Aiko. Now there’s the fly-through, making of and, if you have 3D glasses – watch it in 3D too.
Be sure to read the notes under the videos – there are links to [...]

This morning I was on Ramon Zancanaro’s site – now this is the kind of 3D render I love! Beautiful! Really, when can I move into this room?
He was featured as CGarchitect’s Visualisation Pro of the Week a little while back.
3Dtotal features the making of this amazing scene here.
Studio Aiko posted a personal project on Evermotion.org a few days back.
The level of detail is totally over the top and wonderful, I had to post this here.

There is a ‘making of’ of his entry scene here on the Evermotion site, using 3Dmax and Vray.

A few weeks back, Victor Fretyan produced a fanastic set of images.
He has now created a making of feature on Evermotion here: http://www.evermotion.org/tutorials/show/7960/making-of-kumu-art-museum-of-estonia
His work is fantastic, so be sure to check out the article.
Juan is one of my favourite 3D artists. He has a fantastic grasp of lighting and composition, and his post work is also really good. Juan was even kind enough to provide a MAKING OF PDF to CGarchitect.com a while back. I’m including it here:
Please do not hotlink the file.
I don’t know how Ronan does it, but he always gets some top notch “making ofs” – this one is great:
