The Dark Knight Rises – No 3D
According to Chris Nolan there’ll be no Riddler or 3D for the third in the Batman movie series, The Dark Knight Rises!

Put away your 3D glasses!
Although it comes as no surprise. Chris Nolan has mentioned how he’s ‘not of fan’ of 3D. Read why here.
A part of me is very happy because if I have to choose between either 2D or 3D for a movie, 2D would win. (What does that say about my loyalty to the 3D industry?)
They’ll be shooting and showing it in 2D, unlike most new releases. High-definition and showings at IMAX seem to be the way forward for Nolan; he explained the following to Geoff Boucher at Hero Complex:
“We want the look and feel of the film to be faithful to what has come before in the first two films,” Nolan said. “There was a large canvas and operatic sweep to ‘The Dark Knight’ and we want to make a film that will carry on with that look and feel.”
Stereoscopic presentation would have significantly changed the feel of certain “Dark Knight” scenes, such as rooftop and aerial shots in Hong Kong that created vast and startling night vistas, Nolan said. “There’s an intimacy at times [with spatial illusion of the 3-D effect] and we didn’t want to lose scale…. Our ambition for the third movie is to complete a story that has begun. This is not starting over, this not rebooting. We’re finishing something, and keeping a consistency with what’s come before has real value.”

As for the news of the Riddler not being the villain… I guess we’ll just have to keep wondering who”ll terrorize Gotham City. Maybe even a female villain?

I’m holding out for Harley Quinn…although she has always been more of a ’support’ villian. A part of me is hoping that they go with a lesser known villian. Calendar Man (Julian Day), Deadshot, Firefly, Hush….all would fit in Nolands Batman (The Penguin, Clayface, Mr Freeze would definately not!).
And Im happy for the decision to stay away from 3D. In such a dark movie, the need to lighten a 3D print would kill the atmosphere. Plus, 3D movies give me a headache.
